Mainly in the Canary Islands and in Cádiz (although it is also celebrated as a secondary festival almost throughout Spain), there is one event a year, which usually lasts about three weeks (depending on the place and tradition).
At the beginning of the 20th century, some sailors from Cádiz arrived in the Canary Archipelago, with a very typical festival of that city, in which what they called chirigotas (Song of a group of people with musical instruments, mainly guitars) was imported to the that over time would become the Canary Murgas. Nowadays there is a whole structure of organization and competition, so that each island wins the contest that takes place in these popular festivals. All the people who participate, as well as the majority of those who follow them, have a single objective; May your Murga win the contest that is being held and with it, spend a whole year with that award, as well as that of Carnival Queen and Children's Queen. With the evolution of the years, in the province of Las Palmas, the Drag gala was born, which has a worldwide following, being one of the most important, of today's carnivals, in which other cities from other places They have also incorporated it.
There are many days in which children, adolescents, adults and the elderly celebrate carnival in one way or another, as in many places in our country and in others such as Italy (with the Venice Carnival as a great world reference), the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, and in general in so many places that for a few days, we change our identity by putting on make-up and choosing a character to dress up, or choosing a common theme, for a group, family or population in which the party, joy and above all the memory of a spiritual "renaissance" that separates us from that daily routine for a while, to during that period recover the festive breath with the people who make us truly live that joy.
